Elopement Videographer Toronto

Just the two of you.
Somewhere extraordinary.
No pressure, no stress.

Deeply Meaningful Elopement Films

A wedding elopement isn't a wedding without people. It's a wedding with complete intention - just the two of you, somewhere that means something, saying what you actually want to say without a hundred eyes on you and a schedule dictating every minute of your day.

Based in the Toronto area, I work with couples across the GTA and beyond who are planning to elope somewhere far more interesting than the backyard - destinations like Iceland, Scotland, Bali, Italy, France - wherever's calling to you!

What working together looks like

Every elopement I film is built around your plan, your place, and what matters to you. Some couples want a single wedding day covered. Others want a multi-day experience - pre-wedding exploration, interviews, the ceremony, and a portrait session woven into the fabric of wherever they are. Whatever you choose, I'll capture it quietly and unobtrusively.

I travel light, I move quietly, and I know how to disappear into a moment while still capturing it completely whether we're on a mountainside, exotic beach, or wherever you find yourselves saying these words to each other.

What you'll have at the end is a film that doesn't feel like a wedding video. It feels like a warm, beautiful memory you can return to - fully, completely - for the rest of your lives.

Megan & Matt in Ravello, Italy
(4-minute short highlights film)

Megan and Matt chose to elope on the Amalfi Coast - high above the sea, in one of the most quietly beautiful places I've ever stood. They chose Ravello not because it was on a list, but because something about it called to them. A hilltop town that has barely changed in centuries. Terraced gardens falling toward the water. The kind of stillness that makes everything feel more real. It was their dream to share their vows together here.

We spent two and a half days together. We wandered the cobblestone streets, found the light in the lemon groves. I filmed them just being them - exploring, laughing, buying gelato, visiting cafes and shops, taking in the breathtaking sights, savouring this place together that they'd chosen for the most important day of their lives. One afternoon I sat with each of them separately and asked a few questions: why did you choose to elope? What does this place mean to you? What do you want to remember about this? Their touching words formed a beautiful background narrative woven into their full elopement film giving even more meaning.

On their wedding day at the Belmond Hotel Caruso, I filmed each of them getting ready - quietly, privately, in their own space. I captured them reading the cards and letters that family and friends had written before they left home - the voices of the people who loved them, present in the room even though they were an ocean away. And then I filmed their ceremony - sweet, intimate, completely theirs - in a grove of olive trees on a high terrace, the Amalfi Coast stretching out below. Beautiful. Unforgettable.

This is Megan & Matt's short 4-minute highlight film. If you'd like to view their full 20-minute elopement film just let me know and I'll be happy to send it to you.

“John, you are so talented, and we're so lucky that you were able to share those talents with us! We built such a bond in Italy and you made us feel so comfortable. We truly can't thank you enough! We're so grateful for the wedding films you made for us in time for our reception back home. We wish you could have seen the joy in our families and friends faces when we played it! Thank you!!"

Where in the world would you like to go?

I am a traveller first. Exploring the world has been one of my great loves for most of my life. I'm an adventurous traveller - skipping buses, museums and hotels for backpacking through the cities and countrysides of far flung exotic places. I want to meet real people, and experience how they live life wherever they go. I feel most alive in places I don't know and have never visited before, my senses light up as I delight in food, language, landscapes, history, culture, and adventure in places I've only dreamed of. I circumnavigated Iceland for two weeks, stood in the high Himalayan foothills of Nepal and watched the sun come up over Annapurna. I've walked the streets of Rome, Florence, Sienna, Venice, and explored the whole of the Amalfi Coast. Travelled across northern India for three weeks experiencing Rajasthan. I've hiked throughout the Canadian Rockies, paddled with humpback whales in Newfoundland, and explored every province and territory in this country. I've explored Vietnam from the Mekong Delta to Hanoi and adventured across the South Island of New Zealand.

Wherever you're dreaming of sharing your vows, chances are I've already stood there or somewhere like it. This matters because an elopement film is inseparable from its place. The location isn't just a backdrop - it's part of the story. That's something I get, and deeply feel.

Think of me as your experienced fellow traveller and elopement filmmaker.

Let's Start Dreaming...

Maybe you already know exactly where you're going, right down to your the exact spot where you want to share your vows, and the time of day. Or maybe all you know right now is that you want something different - something that feels like you - and the rest is still wide open.

Either way, it starts with a conversation.

No pressure, no commitment, no expectation that you'll have it all figured out. Just a chance to talk it through - what or where you're imagining, what's pulling at you, what you've maybe only half-formed in your mind but haven't said out loud yet. I love this part. Helping a couple shape a vague idea into a real plan is one of my favourite things, and if you're not sure where to start, that's exactly where I can help.

So let's dream together. Tell me what you're picturing - even if it's just a feeling - and we'll figure the rest out from there.
